Gift from Above - Kennesaw Newborn Photographer

Today I morphed into my doula role and spent the afternoon at the hospital supporting the c sect mom, that I photographed over the weekend, in nursing. I did grab a couple of shots of this angel while I was there. Can you blame me?

Answered Prayers - Atlanta Birth Photography

Today started as an ordinary Saturday morning with errands and projects. I was in the process of mounting large prints onto foam board when I got the call....Dr. is on her way to do a C Section now! I jumped into gear, barking out orders to the kids and rounding up my gear. I knew they were discussing doing a c section next week, and none of us had any idea that would get moved forward. Twenty minutes later I was out the door and on my way, and none too soon. By the time I arrived and donned my blues, I only had time to scrub my hands and they were ready to roll.

The last couple of weeks have been rough for this mom. Her blood pressure kept climbing and she ended up on hospital bed rest. She really wanted a normal birth, and we were praying for that for her, but God knew that wasn't the plan and in His grace, had the Doctor spring the high possibility of c section on them earlier this week. She had time to mentally process and prepare.

Here she is, the child for which they have prayed for years! As she made her grand entrance she bellowed out for all to hear.  Could she be anymore perfect?

As they handed her to Daddy, she was so agitated but quickly calmed as she heard his voice. There was not a dry eye in the room as we watched her respond to him.

Look at how content she looks snuggled next to Mom! I could just sit and stare at them all day.

A beautiful family!

It was such an honor and joy to be able to be there with you today, capture your moment and rejoice in His blessing!

Parenting Prep - Kennesaw Maternity Photography

Three years ago Angela walked down this path, into the arms of her groom, David and their new life together. Today they walked the same path, reminiscing the past and anticipating the future as they prepare to be a family of three.

They are so in love, which made my job capturing their joy and love easy!

The above B&W is my absolute FAVORITE of the day!!!

Entering the path of parenthood...

Did I mention how much fun they had?

Don't they look like Brad and Angelina in these, especially the B&W?
May God's love and goodness shine upon you and your family all the days of your life.

Sneak Peek - David & Angela - Kennesaw Maternity Photographer

Yesterday, I had the privilege of photographing this beautiful couple.  They are one of my absolute favorite couples to photograph.  They are so in love, beautiful and funny, and did I mention they are my brother and his wife.  They are expecting their first and I am so excited to capture all these special moments for them.  Thank you both for letting me capture you moments and share in your love and laughter.  LAUGHTER would sum up the shoot.

More pictures of this session later this week....

Beautiful Black & White

I'm participating in the I Heart Faces Photo Challenge with this shot. What could be more beautiful than a sweet, peaceful moment between a mother and her newborn son!

Thanks for visiting,

Sweet Light

Lighting!  It will make or break a photo.  It was one of the first things I began to notice, as I started on my photographic journey.  Your aperture, speed and iso all work together to let the proper amount of light into your camera to produce a creative and correct exposure.  For a more thorough understanding of this I encourage you to read Brian Peterson's Book, "Understanding Exposure".

Now that I have become aware of light, I find myself drawn to it.  I am constantly searching out areas around our home looking for that sweet light.  One of my favorite spots, is on my bed.  I have a southern window to one side and a western window on the other side.  I get good light in this room from mid morning until just before sunset.  The white duvet works as a great back drop and reflector.

Other sweet spots around my house are my carport and screen porch, they both face east and are a great choice for morning sessions.  A southern facing school room is great for mid-day shoots, and a western facing living room for late afternoon shoots.

Here is a great article on utilizing natural light indoors.

Now go find some light!

Traveling Man

This week I had a family session in a nearby town.  It was a last minute session, right in the middle of the day, so I packed up my crew and took them with me.  While we were waiting on the family to arrive I got these great shots of my Little Man.

Sweet Angel

This little girl has to be one of the sweetest, most beautiful children I've ever photographed.  As she slept she looked like an angel, and when awake those dark eyes just captivated me. What more can I say.

(These photos are a great example of how different light affects your photos.  The two photos with the tan background were done with the overcast natural light, coming through a tinted window, the others were done using a flash bounced off the ceiling.)

Impromptu Shoot

Last week, my youngest daughter, donning a red hat and pink scarf, came running to me begging me to take her picture.  A photographing mother's dream!  Grabbing the camera we headed outside, where I found some nice, soft light hanging around the north side of our home.    She was the perfect little model, although I'm not sure what look she was giving me on that last photo.  I love how dramatic it is and drama she definitely provides.

Not wanting to be left out of the action her older sister came running!  I've been trying to a get a great capture of these two together since before Christmas and every time one of them has been in a less than cooperative mood.  Today I was delighted to have them both cooperating!  One of these will soon be hanging on my wall.

I just can't decide which I like best?  What do you think?
